Today we are excited to introduce to you a new segment: Flashback Friday. Every Friday, we’re going to hop in our DeLorean and go a blazing 88 miles per hour to a year when tops were cropped, locks were permed, and denim was king. Every week we will explore a new year and some of the songs that sat at the top of the charts, what made them special, and how they have been used in songs proceeding. It will be a flash of nostalgia filled with gak and Patrick Swayze’s biceps.
To kick off this segment, we’re going to honor valentine’s day and the hottest love songs of 1999. We’re going to lean the car seat back and drive you to your awkward no good acne riddled horny high school days. Hurried moments spent after school in the back of your Geo Metro trying to get lucky with the latest R Kelly record. Sit back, relax, and enjoy this flashback Friday.
It's 1999, former wrestler Jesse Ventura is sworn in as governor of Minnesota, Bill Clinton is impeached though he "did not have sexual relations with that woman," Fat Boy Slim scores a win for electronic music with their hit "Praise You," and Michael Jordan upset sports fan worldwide with his retirement announcement.
